Regimen's Take

Genestein is a potent antioxidant and a phytoestrogen (a biomimetic molecule). It not only acts as a free radical scavenger, but it modulates process in the skin that can prevent the destruction of elastin, collagen, and hyaluronic acid. While we love this ingredient, here’s the catch. It’s derived from a plant originally used as a dye, so when we formulate it in skincare, using too much can create a yellow a cast on the skin.

  • potent naturally-sourced antioxidant
  • biomimetic anti-aging properties due to it’s action on estrogen receptors

The Skincare Encyclopedia aims to improve public understanding of the biology and chemistry of skincare. The Encyclopedia is rooted in core scientific principles and extensive research, in many cases in collaboration with the authors of the original studies referenced. This is a project of Regimen Lab, maintained by a group of multidisciplinary scientists, MDs, and researchers.
